Muffin Bouquet

Here’s a quick and pretty easy idea to present your mini muffins or cupcakes at your next party!

You need a small bucket (mine is from IKEA,) some floral foam, some tissue paper (mine was from the dollar store,) some bamboo skewers (the large ones,) and something to weigh your bucket down (I used some decorative rocks from IKEA.)

First give the bottom of your bucket some weight. In my case the rocks went into the bottom of the bucket – about 2 inches with the size I used here. This serves to even out the top weight of the muffins/cupcakes and it also helps keep the bucket in place when people start pulling the cupcakes out with the skewer.

Next use two pieces of tissue paper and place them like this:

Next cut a bit of floral foam to size. The size you need to cut it to is not the top of the bucket though, but more around the middle as you’ll be pushing the foam inside the bucket some. Most buckets are taper some, so the top would be wider than the bottom.

Then push the foam firmly into the middle of the bucket, wedging it in there. Take care no to tear your tissue paper.

Push in the bamboo skewers, pointed side in to the foam.

Arrange it around the bucket like you would a bouquet of flowers. Somewhat angled and further in around the side, slowly getting larger and longer toward the middle and the top.

Once all the bamboo sticks are in you can add something to top the foam and the skewers. I basically just poured some more of the sprinkles inside so the foam was covered.

Then it’s time to add the muffins/cupcakes. With a shark knife, pierce the bottom of the cupcake wrapper, then slide the cupcake onto the skewer at a slight angle.

It seems that when you put them straight on, they have a tendency to slide down the skewer a few minutes later.

This is also the reason why we use the flat end of the skewer – the pointy end seems to make it easier for them to slide down. Push the muffins in about 3/4 of the way.

Adjust your skewers as needed once the muffins are all on, give your tissue paper a final fluff and that’s it!

It was the center piece at the kid’s birthday party and they were totally taken with it!

{As you can see, the bouquet had already lost some of it’s “flowers” by the time I got to take this photo! :) }

Have a great day/evening/ night everyone!
